Album Description THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ALBUM FROM Q-TIP - "THE RENAISSANCE" The album mixes soul beats, piano, guitars, and Q-Tip's usual thoughtprovoking lyricism, which takes you on a trip from relationships and summer songs to social issues of late, and has a kind of '90s feel to it. "The Renaissance" features Raphael Saadiq, Norah Jones, D'Angelo and Amanda Diva.
Album Description 2008 album from the former A Tribe Called Quest rapper, his first solo album in nine years. Produced primarily by Q-Tip with plenty of live instrumentation and a love fixation, The Renaissance is a stark portrait of the artist as an elder statesman. One listen to the frenetic drumming and strutting live bassline of a track like 'ManWomanBoogie' reveals that Q-Tip is on a mission to create original music as timeless as the tracks he used to sample once upon a time. The Renaissance marks the return of one of the most recognizable voices in all of Hip Hop.

Mellow and Jazzy Flow for QTIP!! January 9, 2009 I have always enjoyed the music that Qtip and TCQ made. Electric relaxation is one of my favorite hip hop songs. The renaissance has a mature jazzy flow that almost anyone can enjoy and it is not vulgar and trashy like alot of the stuff that's coming out today. I would have given it 5 statrs but in my opinion the release is too short. I would have love to see at least 15 -17 songs on here. This better get an award for the year and put the garbage that artists like little Wayne releases to rest.
ONE is better then NONE January 9, 2009 Intelligent hip-hop, wow imagine that! they don't make em' like this anymore but they should, been listing to T.C.Q. since they first came on the scene along with De La, leaders of the new, Guru/Premier(Gangstarr*)KRS-1 (Read: REAL HIP HOP) The best thing about this album is nearly all the beats and catchy lyrical content are pleasantly infectious and takes you back (if your old enough) to enjoy what they were doing in the early 90's the best thing about this latest effort? all the tracks are tight, save for maybe one, but that's just me. Worst thing about it? the rest of the crew is not here, then it would be 10 stars, hope they get back together in some way, what was done to hip hop earlier on was a crime making it something it was never intended to be that being "Gangsta" Circa 92' then all hell broke loose with everybody in the whole damn world thinking they were "Gangsta" please! and then Hip-Pop Commercialism infuse into a strange hybrid of trashy music with no heart/soul put into it selling out it's soul for greed and violence. No bling B.S. here, just the genuine sounds of a true poet with soul. I hope this and other artists like this can re-awaken hip hop to what it used to be in the golden age - Sane, Funny, Intelligent, Inspiring, with real music to dance/nod your head to.
HIP HOP FOR GROWN UPS January 5, 2009 This is the best hip hop CD I have heard in years (since most of what passes for hip hop these days is garbage). This CD reminds me most of "The Love Movement" - a mature Q-TIP, jazzy spirit and very insightful lyrics... I have to wonder though- where is the publicity for this CD? I heard about it from a British website.
If you are a TCQ fan you will not be disappointed.
HipHop Pioneer Releases Masterpiece! January 5, 2009 All you want to be hip hop super stars should take note, Q-Tip rhymes like a rapper. His lyrical content is so potent, words w/dual connotations is the recipe for this installment. He is truly over the top on this one and it is a shame that he won't get the accalades he should just because the hip-hop community is stuck on stupid and refuses to recognize the true purpose of this musical genre. But Tip makes it clear that he won't be denied his opportunity to speak the truth and he does it quite well over banging beats and old school tracks that have been in our community for decades.
Clean your musical ears with this Q-tip January 5, 2009 I've been a long time fan of Q-tip (A Tribe Called Quest)for many years. I have been jammin this man's work since I was in high school with their first album (People's Institive Travels...)and the hit single "Bonita Applebum". Now as a grown man with two children of my own we (my family) still jam Midnight Mauraders and the Low End Theory while cleaning the house on a Saturday morning. I have now added The Renaissance to that rotation. My daughters will be able to tell their children that they grew up listing to Q-tip (ATCQ) while house cleaing just like I listened to Stevie, Al Green and Earth, Wind and Fire when I was a child. Only the classics baby, only the classics!!!
